On the weekend before Labor Day, the Rotary Club of the Bronx was part of several Back To School Backpack Giveaways.
There was our annual effort to provide backpacks to the Castle Hill YMCA for its giveaway, this year on August 23. In addition, our Club supplied backpacks to Pastor Darius Woodley for an August 23 event at his Community Church of Christ, and to President Karen Harris-Scott of the South Bronx Rotary Club for their August 24 backpack distribution. We also helped organize ordering for a backpack giveaway of The New York State Chaplain Task Force with Rev. Dr. J. Loren Russell, Romona Wright and Valarie Salters. Shoutout to Bronx Rotary Club members and friends who joined us, to Bronx Rotarian Sharlene Brown-Oliver of the Castle Hill YMCA for handling all the logistics, and to the awesome volunteers and staff at the Castle Hill YMCA for all their help!
